September 2019 Update

by | Sep 23, 2019

Phew! What is with September? All that back to school/back to work/questioning where time even went after much lounging (we hope!) throughout the brief but spectacular Canadian summer can be A LOT.

Thankfully, your team at Spring Plans is here to help you wade through the nonsense and stay the course. It can be easy to overspend, lose your structure, and forget about all the cool plans we made together at this time of year, and we don’t blame you even a little bit if you’re feeling out of sorts.

Our recommendation: refresh yourself.

If you have a Spring Cash Flow or Financial Plan (or both!), please set aside a bit of time this month – even half an hour – to just to take a look at it. If you don’t have time to actually get stuff done, don’t beat yourself up. That helps no one. Just take the time to remind yourself that you do have a plan, you do have a focus, and even through times that may be somewhat overwhelming, you have the support you need to meet those fantastic money, finance, and life goals you’ve set.

We know that sometimes reality can make a mess of even the best of plans, and there is no virtue in perfection. The only thing that is perfect is zero – and you’re no zero.

If you were led astray during the summer months, through these first few frantic weeks of fall, or any other time period really –  we get it. We’re with you. Believe it or not, we mess up all the time, too. Everybody around here is just a human doing their best, and mistakes and delays don’t mean you aren’t going to get where you are going. They may mean you’ll get there differently, or it’ll take a little extra time or effort, and that’s just fine. The important thing is that you know where you’re going, how to get there, and how to get back on the wagon if you fell off.

If you have a bit of time after you’ve had your refresher, we have been creating some fun stuff for you. Sandi hasn’t stopped reading throughout the summer months (we’re pretty sure she… can’t stop…) and has a great list of articles for you to look through about parents & money, privacy & data protection, relationships & income levels, and so much more. She hasn’t stopped writing, either, and has applied our 2019 theme of Design Thinking to the knotty issue of retirement income: how to know if you have enough, and how to put all the pieces together.

If you haven’t had the chance to get to know Karen Richardson, who joined us in February, she’s also been reading and has a review for you on Tracy Theemes’ The Financially Empowered Woman as well as the next installment in our wildly popular “A Week in the Life.” We know you’ll enjoy learning about her as much as we have over the past 8 months that Karen has been a Spring planner.
