June 2019 Update

by | Jun 24, 2019

You made it! You’re halfway through 2019, and by the time this newsletter reaches you, will have already experienced the longest day of the year. Your sunshine time is shrinking now – get out there and take advantage! After all those start-of-summer, Father’s Day, and end-of-school year events, you deserve some relaxation.

Summer is a great time for both light and heavy reading. Your Spring team is made up of ultra-nerds and we have a long list of great stuff to listen to, watch, and read. While there are definitely some money and business options in there, there is also a great deal of fiction and fun.

For more money talk but in shorter bursts, Sandi’s Great Reads this month include the concept of misinformed consent, as well as thoughts about optimizing RESP contributions and digital estate planning. If you’ve got time after those, there are just a few more, because are three reads really enough for one month? We think not.

Finally, if you’ve been reading with us for a while, you know we’ve got yet another concept to look at through your Design Thinking lens: Estate Planning. Yes, we know, no one likes to spend a lot of time thinking about the concept of death (except maybe actuaries?) but we firmly believe that a well-planned estate is one of the most loving and kind things you can do for your family. As Keanu Reeves, the internet’s current favourite boyfriend said about death: I know that the ones who love us will miss us. Make their lives easier at a difficult time by giving them really clear instructions for how you want to be remembered and what you want done with your stuff – demonstrating how little you want your family and friends to stress. There’s a lot of love built into a solid plan.

Have a wonderful summer!
