February 2019 Update

by | Feb 25, 2019

Happy Lunar New Year!

If you’re a regular reader, you already know that some of the team got together at the end of January to retreat and discuss what we did in 2018 and what we’re hoping to do in 2019. Our annual executive retreat, facilitated by the fabulous Pam Schmidt, is an important part of making sure that we’re staying on top of what we’re doing for you and what we’re doing to create a sustainable, long-lasting business.

We couldn’t possibly outline everything we did in four days in this update (and you might find it incredibly boring if we did), but we’re so excited about what Spring is building! We reaffirmed our dedication to revolutionizing the financial services industry and continuously raising the standard of financial planning – which we believe will improve the lives of all Canadians. No small dreams. Throughout 2019, you’ll see snippets of this in our newsletter and articles, our continued outreach to media, our forum for advice-only financial planners, and – most importantly – the plans and advice that we craft for you.

We invite you to take advantage of the opportunity that the final days of February brings you to pack up the last of 2018, seal it, and tuck it away in storage. 2019, the last year of this century’s adolescence, is firmly in place. With the exception of perhaps a final RRSP contribution, there isn’t a whole lot you can do to change the outcomes of 2018. It’s time to face forward, and drive headlong into whatever you have decided to make of this year.

We mentioned our theme for 2019, design thinking, in our What We Want for You in 2019 article. We will continue our obsession with design in a new article discussing how you can use design thinking to create the life – and the finances – you really, truly want. The second in the series is up this month, with a design perspective on income and cash flow planning. Sandi’s also got a solid collection of great reads, which you can catch up on here.

As you likely have already read, Karen Richardson joined the team at the beginning of the month and we’re looking forward to sharing more of her with you as the year progresses.
